Who travels with us

Independent-minded budget travelers and young international travelers, students, au pairs, interns, camp counselors and professionals from all walks of life travel with us. When everyone is different then everyone is interesting and no matter where you go, the people you travel with make the experience. There is no maximum age limit on our tours.

Small international groups

We travel in small groups of not more than 13 passengers. On a large bus with lots of people things move slowly, leaders have less time for individual traveler needs and questions, and you might not get to know anyone. Ever figured out that a bathroom stop with 30-50 people would take about 20-30 minutes? Our small groups move more efficiently giving you more time at the places you want to visit. Your group leader always has time for individual wishes and questions. Can you picture a big bus driving on those scenic "off the beaten track" roads? No, but that's where we go!

No Hidden Surcharges

All camping and hotel accommodation are included as well as entrances to all national parks and monuments, all van rides, group leader services and much more. We include a hotel/hostel night in the tour start city on day 1 of the itinerary. You never pay extra for exploring and hiking in the national parks. There is always something to do and to see even if you are traveling on a small budget. For added adventure and more action you can pay for optional activities such as horseback riding, helicopter flights, mountain biking etc. on the spot. It's your choice.

Our top quality camping and cooking equipment is specially developed to suit Intrepid Suntrek's high standards! We manufacture and maintain our tents in house. All you need to bring is your personal sleeping bag.

The nerve center of the Intrepid Suntrek organization is located within our large facility in Santa Rosa, California. It is here that our reservations, publications, customer service, operations, training, fleet and equipment departments work together to ensure your vacation is a success! Our on-site, comprehensive, preventative maintenance programs offer you safe and well-maintained vehicles and equipment. Your safety is our prime consideration!

Intrepid Suntrek's Leader School

Our leaders must graduate from an intensive training program to be eligible to lead an Intrepid Suntrek tour. On graduation they are issued a diploma in recognition of their achievement as adventure travel specialists.

reducing our carbon footprint

All our Intrepid Suntrek adventures have been assessed for their greenhouse gas emissions by measuring their most carbon intensive components - transport, accommodation and waste by region and trip style. From this we were able to determine carbon emissions of our trips and build in a carbon offset component which helps neutralize the impact of these harmful emissions. We carbon offset each trip through purchasing carbon credits from accredited providers and projects. This means that you can take an Intrepid Suntrek journey knowing that your environment impact is significantly reduced.
